Words cannot express my gratitude to your organization. Being self employed and having no sick benefits made my situation even worse. I looked into the coverage a few times over my 10 years of self employment however it was always more then I could afford. Being a single parent I could always only spread my money so far. Your assistance has eased the stress that finances can bring. Thank you. When I am on my feet & working again, your organization will definitely be my organization of choice to assist.

Sincerely with Eternal Gratitude,

I am compelled to write to you and say just how much you can touch lives.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of your friend Kelly Shires, but it sounds like she was a good friend and loved by all of you.

My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer January 2004 and I know first hand how devastating breast cancer can be not only to the patient but also to the family. We have been married for 15 years and have two wonderful girls – 8 and 12. At 38, I never thought I would be fighting this battle but also believe that the good Lord only gives you challenges that you can carry.

My wife is doing fine now, but I had to quit work to care for her and she made me promise that our kids would live normally and not get lost in the cancer treatments. Financially, I know how this can affect the whole family – we were fortunate enough to have great family and friends to get us through this trying time. It was the worst time of our lives, but by far has come of it stronger and closer then we as a family have been.

Your work is very important and you should know that people who have gone through it appreciate and respect you. Our lives are getting back to normal and although my wife does not ride, I have supported your cause by buying raffle tickets.

In closing I know that you ladies may have days were you are frustrated and worn out, but ladies I hope you continue on your quest.

Thank you!

Dear Members of the Breast Cancer Snow Run

Thank you, again, for your financial assistance during my recovery from hormonal therapy. I have had to take a break from the medication because of severe joint and muscle pain. I will resume the hormonal therapy since my oncologist is strongly urging me to continue this treatment to increase my chance of beating this disease.

Dear Friends, This lovely card symbolizes the beauty of your generosity. The funds that you sent are greatly needed and gratefully received. I did not know how I was going to pay my bills and cover rent this month, and without your help it would have been impossible.

Your organization is heaven-sent to those like me recovering from cancer treatment. All the work of fundraising and helping others is a beautiful act of love that will be long remembered. Thank you so much for caring in this wonderful way. I am praying that God will bless you in every way for your kindness and generosity.

With great appreciation,

Dear Members of the Board,

I am writing to let you know how please and excited I was to receive your cheque. I cannot express in words how wonderful it was to go to my mailbox and open your envelope.

I was devastated when I was told my breast cancer had spread to my bones but the nurses at Credit Valley Hospital were wonderful when they introduced me to a social worker who informed me of your magnanimous organization! I am determined to beat this but need resources in order to rest and let the treatment take effect and unfortunately had to give up my job as a teacher. As you can imagine, the financial consequences can be quite alarming especially now with the added expenses of naturopath, physiotherapy and vitamins and supplements needed.

The pain in my body has been so overwhelming that I have not been able to sleep, even with the use of sleeping pills. Thanks to your generous gift, I was able to put the money towards a tempurpedic bed which has helped considerably.

Your Foundation and the work that you ladies are truly godsend for people in my position and I am truly grateful for your help. Your kindness is so much appreciated in this difficult time, thank you so much for being there!

With Gratitude,

I would like to thank you very much for the funding of a new wig. I was diagnosed in February and started my treatment in April. My hair did fall out but thanks to the Snow Run I am able to sport a new look. I am sorry that I have not thanked you sooner but due to complications with treatment I have spent a great deal of time in the hospital.

Once again, I cannot thank you enough!

I wish to thank you for your recent assistance, it was greatly appreciated. I thought I would let you know what a great and helpful organization this is. I have become very disillusioned regarding cancer assistance….it seems like everyone has their hands out. Donating to the cure is a joke (where does all that money go?). The government is not there to help and I was recently charged $25.00 by my oncologist for a one page form. You and your organization seem to be the only light in what seems to be the black hole of breast cancer.

Thank you again, and please know that what you are doing means a lot to people living in despair with nowhere else to turn.

June 16/07 Dear Ladies of the Snow Run,

Thank you for the tools to help me make lemonade out of a time of lemons. I’ve had my masectomy & DIEP flap reconstruction and am recovering remarkably well! Still waiting to hear about follow up treatment. Through your assistance I am able to put my energy towards healing, not financial burdens. There is NO other organization like the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation. I’d like to thank everyone of you for helping me when I had nowhere else to turn. Thank you for keeping the Kelly Shires Foundation alive!

Sincerely and from the bottom of my heart!
