August 10, 2005 Midland, Ontario – We are pleased to announce that BRP/Ski-doo has partnered with the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Snow Run for both the Ontario and Quebec events. Ski-doo will be the exclusive manufacturer supporting both these all-women snowmobile events, raising money to help the fight against breast cancer.
Founder, Kelly Shires lost her 8-year battle the breast cancer last fall, which hit the group hard, but her dreams are continued through a group of valued volunteers. “Having Ski-doo Corporate on board as a sponsor for the Snow Run was something Kelly dreamed of”, Cayley, Co-founder, said. “The group is excited to share this great news with the snowmobiling community” and in keeping Kelly’s dream growing. Kelly was always very proud of the support from local Ski-doo dealer, Factory Recreation since the inception of the Snow Run.
The theme behind the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Snow Run is “women helping women”. Funds are raised through annual snowmobiling events to help financially assist women battling breast cancer. There are many un-foreseen expenses that are faced during diagnosis and treatment and are not covered by health plans or OHIP. This is where the charity can step in and help women in their battle against breast cancer, making it less challenging, allowing them to focus on recovery.
The 7th annual Ontario event is scheduled to take place on February 4, 2006 at Deerhurst Resort in Hunstville, Ontario. The location of the 1st annual Quebec Snow Run has yet to be announced but is scheduled to take place on March 6, 2006.
