OVER $200,000.00 RAISED FOR WOMEN WITH BREAST CANCER

Huntsville, Ontario - February 7, 2005  - This past weekend the 6th Annual Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Snow Run became the most successful ever!  With over $200,000 in pledges and corporate sponsorship already turned and an expected $10,000.00 more to come in this week.

This event was the first without co-founder Kelly Shires, as she lost her battle with breast cancer this past fall, but the group kept her memory & spirit alive.  The enthusiasm was unbelievable as over 200 women suited up on February 5, 2005 to participate in this year’s event. The weather started out being a chilly -7 as the ladies suited up and headed off on the trails. This exhilarating event was held at the beautiful Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville, Ontario.  The trails were challenging as each team traveled their designated routes to Baysville for lunch.  The ladies rode the trails while spouses took part in either a men’s run or the ice drags in South Portage hosted by radarruns.com.  Group dining, awards and speeches followed by comedian and breast cancer survivor, Debbie Watters act “One Cup Left” was enjoyed by the group after the beautiful day on the trails.  Stay tuned for details for our 7th annual Snow Run taking place on February 4, 2006

The theme of Snow Run is “women helping women”. The ride is aimed to raise funds to financially assist women diagnosed with breast cancer and create awareness, from pledge forms to draws and auctions, everything done this day is to help women.  All proceeds from this 'Run' and all future ‘Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Snow Run’ events, goes to assisting women in their fight with breast cancer.

The Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Snow Run is a registered charity established to help women who have been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Financial assistance is available as there are many unforeseen expenses women may face, and which health insurance programs may not cover. The trust provides assistance to women in these situations in order to make their fight with cancer a little less challenging.

Many thanks to this years participants, volunteers, media partners and Sponsors for their part in making this year so successful.  Be sure to look for us at the Toronto Snowmobile Show in October.
